The Sacred Tryst (A Biblical Historical Fiction Series)

What if Mary wasn’t the prostitue? What if Jesus didn’t go to the cross for Original Sin?

And ever wonder where Jesus got his “Love thy neighbor,” and, “do unto the least of these…” messages from?

What if Mary wasn’t the prostitue?
What if Jesus didn’t go to the cross for Original Sin?
And ever wonder where Jesus got his
“Love thy neighbor,” and,
“do unto the least of these…”
messages from?

Me too.

After leaving the Evangelical Church, I became fascinated with the Gnostics and other mystical traditions modern Christianity say are heretical.

The myth of Mary Magdalene and Jesus being Tantric lovers came into my awareness.

Why I do not find historical evidence for that, I still thought it would be fun to create an erotica short as a way for me to practice my creative writing for another Goddess focused series I had outlined during Covid. This series is also set in modern times with ties to ancient practices.

Anywho, long story short, as I dove into the Erotica Short — the characters and story quickly begged to be a full length book. Then a series. Then a series with a possible prequel.

I dove deep into research, a special insterest of my AuDHD brain. But not just of history. I took what I had learned from “The Creation of Patriarchy,” by Gerda Lerner (and what is the foundation for the educaiton found on Deconstructing Patriarchy), combined it with what I was learning from Biblical Scholars such as Bert Erhman — and started to fill in the holes.

Here is what I knew that forms my hypothis for the book:

  • Jesus’ teachings do not match any of the 3 major sects of the time (Saduccees, Pharisees and Escenes.)

  • While not all of his message is centered around what I will call Partnership compassion (from Raine Eisler’s work) — enough of it was there to show me that perhaps a woman influenced him more than history has given a woman/women credit

  • You can see this in my book in the first few chapters where Mary Magdalene scolds Jesus for being the “White Washed tomb.” One of the first scenes I had envisioned as the book went from Erotica to full length historical. As the scene wrote itself, it became convincingly clear that of course a woman had originally said this.

Only a year and months later, as I read Raine Eisler’s first book “The Chalice & The Blade,” did I see how historically accurate my “wild” imagination possibly was.
